Iroko is a tropical hardwood from Africa that is highly durable. It is ideal for outdoor applications such as fence panels, gates, and furniture. It is resistant to insect damage, rotting, and moisture and can last over 30 years with minimal maintenance. Iroko is stable, solid, and warp-resistant, making it suitable for high-traffic areas.
Iroko boasts a rich golden-brown colour and unique grain texture that sets it apart from other timbers. Iroko wood is versatile, complementing a wide range of outdoor settings, and its colour deepens to a beautiful bronze shade over time. It shares similarities with oak in beauty, durability, and strength, offering a choice based on individual aesthetic preferences. If left untreated, Iroko will eventually age into a silvery-grey tone, which architects and landscape designers actively promote.
Despite its medium-high density, Douglas Fir is surprisingly easy to treat and shape, responding well to painting, staining, glueing, and finishing. This adaptability makes it a versatile option for both indoor and outdoor applications.

No. Iroko is a type of timber that is highly valued for its stability. It has low levels of movement, shrinking, and warping, which makes it very dimensionally stable. This makes it a perfect material for use in various settings, including marine environments, where it can resist water damage.
It is recommended to use stainless steel fixings with Iroko wood as they are resistant to rust and corrosion. This ensures a strong structure and maintains the integrity of the wood.
